![]() Call for Action - Pakistan is facing a crisis of epic proportions at the moment. There are currently over 800,000 who have been registered as internally displaced since 2 May 2009 according to the UNHCR. Other sources are placing the total estimate as high as 1.3 million. With the approaching summer months, their misery is only going to get compounded. Already there are reports of children getting dehydrated and suffering from diarrhea, while a woman died because of the stifling heat inside the tent. While many local host families have taken in refugees, there are hundreds of thousands who are camping outdoors in makeshift tents with no basic facilities. They urgently need food, water, shelter, bedding, toilets, medical supplies and electric connections. To alleviate the suffering of the refugees, members of Future Leaders of Pakistan (FLP) will be fundraising and volunteering with credible organizations to support and strengthen existing efforts rather than duplicating them. FLP is a youth leadership organization comprising young talented Pakistanis committed to Pakistan’s development. For those in the United States who would like to help, please check out the following organizations that are doing credible work and provide the option to donate online: UNHCR While Edhi Foundation does not have an online donation option, it remains the most credible and trusted Pakistani NGO and provides other options to donate.
